Need a screen-free activity for the kids, or something fun to do on a stay at home date night? This easy to make cake will become one of your favorite summer traditions.
This ice cream cake recipe is really easy to make, and costs less than going out for desert. Making food together is also a great way to connect with the people we love.
Creamsicles Ice Cream Cake:
- 1 pint orange sherbet (softened)
- 1 10-inch angel food cake
- 1 container Cool Whip
- 10 soft candy orange slices or orange sprinkles (optional)
Directions:
- Slice the angel food cake across, two or 3 times – you should have 3 or 4 rings (shaped like a donut with the hole in the middle).
- Set the bottom ring on a freezer safe dish, then spread 1/2 cup softened sherbet to cover the entire layer. Add the next ring, and repeat. End with the top ring.
- Use a spatula to spread Cool Whip (or your favorite whipped cream) all over the surface of the cake.
- Decorate with candy oranges and sprinkles.
- Freeze for at least 2 hours.
- Slice and enjoy!
After assembling, you can pop the cake in the freezer, watch your favorite movie or enjoy an outdoor activity, and then share a cold, sweet treat!
